Rafael Fontán Zubizarreta and his first partner opened the firm after doing internships in the Spanish department of a British firm then called Amhurst Brown Martin and Nicholson, in the central Duke Street, St. James's of London, maintaining for years a close collaboration with the aforementioned firm. Ibon Zubizarreta Orea joined the firm as a partner 3 years later, contributing valuable legal, economic and accounting knowledge.

Rafael Fontán has a great relationship with the golf world. He was member of the General Assembly of the Andalusian Golf Federation, member of the Board of Directors of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation and president of Aloha Golf Club. He is currently member of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews.
